Why I teach Science

I have been fascinated by science for as long as I can remember.

During and after college, I spent five years conducting professional ecological and wildlife field studies in Everglades National Park. Those experiences gave me a deep appreciation for Florida's ecosystems and the value of real-world scientific investigation.

Around 2000, I decided to pursue a career in science education.

I have since spent 15 years as a Florida-certified science teacher, working with middle and high school students in Pinellas and Miami-Dade Counties.

My teaching experience includes Biology, Earth and Space Science, Physical Science, Environmental Management, Middle Grades Science, Gifted Science, and college-credit Environmental Management courses.

I also hold the Gifted Endorsement on my Florida Professional Teaching Certificate, which has strengthened my ability to adapt science learning experiences for students with a wide range of interests, abilities, and learning styles.

My unique combination of classroom teaching and field science experience allows me to create engaging learning opportunities both indoors and outdoors.
